Where to explore 

Joshua tree is famous for its vast desert landscape and petrified Doctor Seuss looking trees. Its rugged rock formations also make it  a popular rock-climbing and photography destination.  

If you're looking to get outside and get a good sweat, there are plenty of local desert mountain trails overlooking the lush oasis of La Quinta. Here's a list of recommended routes.  

The massive palm trees of the Cochella Valley Preserve almost don't seem real. This is a great spot for flat walking paths, park benches, and more shaded options for those looking for a nearby outdoor activity.

Palm Springs is known for its Hollywood 'escape' appeal and midcentury-modern architecture. The downtown main strip is lined with boutiques, antique shops, art galleries and restaurants. The city is also home to great hiking, horse back riding and spas.  

If you're looking to explore an area closer to your hotel, visit El Paseo drive in Palm Desert. The palm tree lined street is packed with dining and shopping options.

Lavender Bistro is a popular pick in the Coachella Valley for its patio filled thousands of sparking lights. The menu has a French influence with photos of France's

lovely lavender fields. 

Looking for a nice steakhouse? Arnold Palmer is a favorite in the region for the outdoor ambiance. The restaurant pays tribute to the golfing legend and has live music on the entertainment patio. 

There's no shortage of great Mexican food in SoCal. The Adobe Grill has live music, good food and is located nearby at the beautiful La Quinta Country Club- the original resort in La Quinta. 

Looking for a more casual option? TQLA on main street as your pick of tacos and tequila. It's also within walking distance for those staying in Old Town La Quinta. 

This part of the country is called the "Date Capital of the United States". You'll likely see dates on the menu around the Coachella Valley. They're especially popular in milkshakes. If you have a sweet tooth,

stop at Shields.
